The Year of the Tiger is coming!

The Year of Water Tiger is quickly approaching. Come hear Matthew Hu, cultural heritage preservationist, talk about the Tiger's historical and cultural significance in China. 

 

Matthew will explain the meaning and symbolism of the Tiger in Buddhism and Daoism, using images of antiques and archaeological findings. Going from past to present, Matthew will discuss Tiger Moms and Tiger Dads in the context of traditional Chinese culture. He will also tell us about the three species of real tigers roaming in China today.

MORE ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Matthew Hu was born and raised in Beijing. He is the founder of The Courtyard Institute, and he has a keen interest in the history and mystery of China. Previously he worked as Managing Director of Beijing Cultural Heritage Protection Center (CHP), China Representative of The Prince's Charities Foundation (China) and was deeply involved with the Shijia Hutong Museum in Beijing.
