Fun with Shadow Puppets at our first Capital M Kids Club event! The Courtyard Institute introduces children to shadow puppets in an accessible, fun way. Kids will learn how to use shadow puppets and explore their imagination, play with light, shadows and perspective, creating a memorable experience in the process.
The Theater begins at 11am with a short introduction to shadow puppet performance. The participants are then divided into small groups, and will create a shadow puppet play, using their own stories.
Shadow puppetry is an ancient form of storytelling and entertainment, using thin cutout figures held between a source of light and a translucent screen. Shadow puppetry originated in the Han Dynasty, around 100 BC, and has spread to many countries and cultures.
